The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) courses are obligatory for all GWO trained personnel who wish to continue working in the Wind industry after their initial GWO certification has expired. The purpose is to review and build on previously gained knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training so that delegates can administer safe and effective working at height in the wind turbine industry / environment.


Course Content The GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore Refresher consists of the following modules:
  • GWO First Aid Refresher
  • GWO Manual Handling Refresher
  • GWO Fire Awareness Refresher
  • GWO Working at Heights Refresher
  • Current valid GWO Basic Safety Training or Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) certificate for each of the 5 modules required.
  • The course participant must be physically and medically fit to participate in GWO Training.

Course Objectives Upon completion, delegates will possess an awareness of the hazards encountered when working within the wind industry and how to control and mitigate these hazards. The training will also equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to appropriately respond in the event of an emergency and to increase their safety through proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), emergency equipment and procedures. The approved GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) provides course participants with, reviews and builds on a range of important skills and tools obtained during their previous GWO Basic Safety Training (BST).
